Abstract
The SAPPhIRE model uses constructs: *S*tate change, *A*ction, *P*arts, *Ph*enomenon, *I*nput, o*R*gan and *E*ffect, to explain the causality of natural and engineered systems. The model has not been well understood and not tested for its capabilities to support analysis and synthesis. In this paper, we clarify the constructs of the model for a better understanding and demonstrate the capabilities of the model to support analysis and synthesis using examples. Results indicate that the model can be used to support analysis and synthesis. Other capabilities of the model are also demonstrated through the examples.
